A thoughtful, professional online presence is essential to developing your reputation, your persona and your audience as an artist. While social media platforms work well for promotion and connection building, they’re best when used as a complement to a dedicated, well-considered website that centres on you and your work.
The Websites for Artists four-week course will give you the opportunity to plan, create, launch and maintain a fully functional website using WordPress, one of the most popular website platforms in the world. We’ll focus on thinking through the purpose of your website in relation to your artistic practice and goals, consider strategies for presentation, content development and keeping things fresh, as well as hands-on instruction to learn the mechanics of doing it yourself.
Sites created in this course will be hosted on WordPress.com. Each participant will begin with a free account and we will discuss the various paid upgrade options in-class and if they fit your needs. We will discuss in-class the various options available and which is best for you. You can preview WordPress.com pricing plans here. Note: Students will require a laptop for each session. SPACE IS LIMITED. Only twelve slots will be available to ensure every participant gets dedicated help with their website.
